Wood-Apple Indian Drink

Ingredients:

  • 500g of wood apples
  • 750ml of water
  • 200g of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of roasted cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • fresh mint leaves for garnish

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • blender

  • measuring cups
  • tablespoon
  • glassware

Instructions:

  • Start by cutting the wood apples in half and then scoop out the pulp on to a mixing bowl.
  • Pour the pulp mix it with water in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into a larger bowl straining through a fine sieve to get rid of solids, use a spoon to push down and get as much juice as possible.
  • In the other bowl, take the mixture of sugar, black salt and roasted cumin grain powder.
  • Pour this mixture to the strained wood apple juice and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add more sugar as the sweetening level may be reduced based on this personalised cooking oil recipe.
  • Finally add the lemon juice and stir in order to mix all the ingredients well.
  • For the better taste, cool the drink about 15 minutes in the refrigerator before serving.
  • Strain the chilled wood-apple drink and pour into glasses and serve with fresh mint leaves.
