PCR on whether Covid 19 is infected. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena continues to appeal to Members of Parliament to proceed with the investigation. It is reported that about 90 government and opposition MPs have participated in the PCR investigations conducted in Parliament so far.
Following the recent identification of four Kovid-19 infected people in Parliament, it was decided to conduct PCR tests in Parliament. But according to unofficial sources, the number of infected people found in the Parliament cluster has risen to 6 as of today (26), the Daily Mirror website reports.
Due to this the Speaker has requested all Members of Parliament to submit PCR. Test and control the spread of the virus as much as possible. However, sources say that the turnout from both the ruling and opposition parties is very low.
It is reported that several other MPs who have been associated with the MPs who are infected with the virus are already afraid that they too have been infected with the virus.
At present, only the essential Cabinet papers are being tabled in Parliament, giving priority to the provisions to prevent the spread of Kovid-19.
It is learned that the Speaker has decided. All other non-essential activities are restricted until the spread of the virus is controlled.
The Speaker has also restricted access to public places and asked other Members of Parliament not to attend public functions. Due to the spread of the corona virus, Parliament meets only two days a week.
As of yesterday, six parliamentarians had been infected with the corona virus. However, MPs Dayasiri Jayasekara and Vasudeva Nanayakkara have fully recovered and left the treatment centers.
